50th what could have been
|
Wild Weasel was legit, some pop up on ebay, though not in the original all red color like the artwork. The figure got that far.
Rattler was heavily rumored to be coming, but only theSDCC one was made. The vehicle segment was dumped because Toy R Us didn't want any more. If they'd made a STINGER last year, instead of a tacky-looking Cobra Snow Cat, would've sold better? I'm not one to talk, didn't buy anything from last year. |
I really believe Hasbro should team up with target or even amazon. Otherwise G.I.JOE may leave forever. Part of the issues are.
1. Price point: Joe is higher than other military action figures. And before I catch flak for saying it, companies are pumping out vehicles, figures and playsets cheaper which has hurt the brand. 2. Availability: Honestly Hasbro has lost faith in Joe, they make more transforms and 5 poa star wars products which is fine, but it's become painfully apparent that G.I.JOE to them is a movie tie in, and unless allspark pictures and the shared universe gets underway soon then it's likely that the only new Joe products will come from the joe club. |

Rattler and Stinger would have been much better than the "tacky-looking"cat and the ugly/weird painted sky striker. I gave the striker away as it's a hard one to store, and ugly....didn't give the cat a second thought....no need for anything in that set... they probably would have just re-released Wild Weasel, which is a great 25th figure! the SDCC set is actually a lot of fun! Never had an open rattler or that hiss version, so cracking that open was a treat |
