Diorama Brain Overload
 

I have a pretty creative mind and alot of imagination and so do most people on this site and other sites similar to our hobby. Right now my brain is about to fry!!! I have so many ideas, like 10 projects in the works and cant seem to complete any of them. This is due to new fresh ideas everyday. Am I the only one with this problem? How do you handle it. Guys like Flatline come up with some amazing sets. Whats your secret to completion?

I have the same problem you do SIC. All sorts of ideas rolling around, but never get them done. I have the attention span of a four year old amped up on Red Bull! One thing that has helped me is to write down notes of what I would like to do. This allows me to narrow my focus when I finally do have time to sit down and crank out a diorama. It also keeps me from forgeting some really cool ideas.

This is actually the best way to do it. First and foremost, set a goal of "the end". Work toward that goal. If new ideas pop in your head that don't fit that goal, write it down, and work out the details on paper for that idea, but maintain focus on your goal.

My problem is, I will do a set, (for my dio-story) then, after editing and posting, say "Darn, I should have done...". Oh well.

My problem is that while working on one project I come up with about twenty other new ideas. However I fail to execute if I don't feel I have everything in order to pull it off to my satisfaction!

I hear you guys. I go into each dio saying to myself to be patient and fine tune the details. Doesn't always work as I too am thinking of the next one. Especially when life gets in the way and you can only spend 5 minutes here and 10 minutes here.

I do the laundry so I can make multiple trips to the basement to work on the dio. :D :eek:

I carry 3 x 5 cards for note taking at work and use them for dio notes also.

I envy you guys who can leave a dio up in the basement. You do a set of pics for the dio story, go upstairs to post, when you come down, the basic setup is still there, to keep you in track. I have to keep reviewing the pics to see where everything was in previoous pics to keep the continuity looking right.

"Hmmm, was the windowed wall to the right or the left of the guard gate?" Run backinside and check again.

I guess the easiest answer for me would be I have a joe room so all my setups are always set up! less to take down and put back up. I might move accessories around but thats about it! :) I work on some stories but sometimes you dont have to continue, you can take a two or three day break from your dio story to get other stuff/ideas on the table literaly! Once im done with those I can go back to my dio story. Someday I wish my sets were as bad arse as flat lines and all those supr flickr guys! ;) cheers meng! .... oh a beer and maybe a couple of bowls get me going too! lol

That's on my wish list of things to do. I can't have a whole room dedicated to Joes, but I want to build a little studio that can live in the garage and be moved outside when the weather is nice. Just a table with some back drops to set up some scenes. One of my many projects to get done. :rolleyes:

Yeah Dread, I think that is the best solution. The taking the note thing is a great idea also or maybe a sketch pad to create plans. I just wing my sets most of the time.

I never knew GI Joe and bowling went together. Aren't you worried that the ball will break your Joes? ;)

That must be sweet having a room dedicated to Joes. I'm in a small apartment so I don't have much space to work with. All my shots are done on a 34" table in the living room, which I run into in the dark and knock everything over. But that's a step up, most of Troops of Doom was done on a 20" table. When I was using the Killer WHALE it was literally hanging off the edge of the table. First time I did a battle scene there wasn't enough space to set up put all the figures, I had to shoot each side separately. They were all shooting at the enemy outside the frame. I have lots of ideas for JoeDios shots but my one table is always set up for my comic and I don't what to take it apart just to set it back up again.
