Need some tips
 

Hey every one

I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips on good lighting like what type of lights you use and how to get perfect lighting. Also what are some good supplies for diorama's that I can get at a hardware store? I'm going to start working on a city battle scene with boxes for buildings :)

Well I personally prefer LED lighting for indoor shots. I've had the same LED drawing desk lamp for the past year and I love it! I also have a very bright 'clip on' desk lamp so I can get all around great lighting. Another thing you might want is the Glade Lightshow things. I have one so that I can use it to add light effects and color to the shots.


If your looking to construct urban sets foamboard is the best way to go. It takes time to learn how to make it look it's best, but when you are done you won't be dissapointed!

Natural light always looks the best, but you can't always have it! Multiple, mobile light sources work the best, like old table lamps you can move around. Chaiman, Seyms and Sic Deth are all great users of foam for edifices and they always look great.

Someone had posted a good fence project on here that can be made with mesh wire, hobbie wood, and 24 gauge wire. I've been looking to do the same for some of my dios.

I also use these really cheap LED book lights that can be found in the Dollar Tree.

As far as building a cityscape goes you can use almost any thing its really up to your imagination. Cardboard, Styrene, Styrofoam, Foamboard, Pink consruction foam, Wood/Basil wood, and Plaster all will work.

I think Im about to dabble into the styrene world.

Try looking in the "how-to" forums. Many that don't specifically state that they are about lighting, tell tidbits about how the shots were lit!

first question, what type of camera do you have. Thats the first thing cause it can change what you should be using. from there there's light tents and natural lights are the best doesnt matter if its in a halogen or a desk lamp as long as there white light and not yellow light. holla so i can help after knowing what camera you use! peace DD
