Weekend Warriors: Best Shot of the Weekend
 

Putting up a separate thread so everyone would know what's going down.

So Troopsofdoom sent me the idea for a weekly contest for Weekend Warriors. As of Monday, vote for your favorite shot from over the weekend in this thread. To vote, simply post a link to your favorite shot. Voting begins Monday and winners will be announced the following day, Tuesday.

The Rules:

1. Title your photos "Weekend Warriors: [insert current theme]"
2. Voting begins on Monday, you can vote regardless of if you did or didn't post a pic. Although you may not vote for yourself.
3. Votes will be counted by links posted in this thread.
4. Votes will be counted on Tuesday.

Agreed.

The few shots I saw were really good. I'll vote for Da Talent's based on the custom figures and rivalry between Trooper/Viper ranks. I had the same idea as Scarrviper, but he did a much better job than I would've (I like the tight frame on the fight).

The topics are tough, but I'll start brainstorming for the future weekends.

I didn't actually realize DD posted a shot until recently, because it got bumped down a lot. Next week I'll post a list of all the shots so everyone can see them in this thread.

Man, it's a tough call this time with so many creative entries. Nevermind that I'm a BAT fanatic, I'm voting for the BATman's shot of the busted B.A.T. crawling through the snow. The customized figure is really cool, but it's the concept that blows me away: stranded, but by your own team. Evokes a similar feeling as his shot "Forgotten ", which he also snuck a BAT into.

A very close second for me was Scarrviper's shot of the disciplined Headhunter. Again, it's an out-of-the-norm approach to the theme - nice creativity (though brutal!).

I would have to go with Batman... thats just awesome.

Ditto! Although I really like Flatline's offering as well. All in all lots of of good stuff this weekend.

Thanks guys! I wasn't sure if you guys would like it because it was headhunters and it was a bit brutal, but it was the most original idea I could come up with :p
I almost ruined a pair of sweatpants and a coat trying to take this shot, because I didn't reallize how wet the ground was I was sitting on :eek: :o

Anybody have an idea how to do a weekly prize without costing someone money?

Maybe after the upcoming themes are done, the winners get to choose a theme for the upcoming weeks and keep it going like that? One theme for each win.

That's awesome I once had International fame But lost it at a bus stop one summer.... :(

Congrats, Scarrviper ! To be fair, I very much liked your picture too, especially because of all the cool accessories thrown about. And also because the scene is done in one shot, where everything has to be perfect at once; set, position, lighting... contrasting with my picture that was a large part Gimp-magic (the BAT never actually touched any snow while I was making the picture...).


The problem with that is that it means every theme will only be known a few days in advance of when the photos are due, which means that less people will have time to make a picture for that theme. In general, I think it's a good idea to know the themes a few weeks in advance.


So cool that you mention that other picture. I also noticed, after I finished the newer shot, that they both have a similar "vibe" going.

Yeah, some advance notice is good. It could start in January if people like the idea. There's three winners already, if they picked their themes now that would be a good buffer.

what about a sticky post of "weekend warrior: Hall of Fame" on the forum?

Hm, personally I don't know about weekly prizes. I guess by my logic taking the best photo out of all the others is the prize. Though if you guys want a weekly prize what I say doesn't matter.

I really like the idea of some sort of yearly prize really well.
